  • Riverview Intermediate Unit 6 has the following positions available...

     

    Anticipated Supervisors of Special Education –Permanent full-time (203 day) positions working with special education programs IU wide, available start of 2017-18 school year.  These positions require PA Special Education Supervisor Certification (CSPG 91), or PA Single Area Supervisor (CSPG 95) and a Bachelors or Master's Degree in Special Education or related specialized certification.  Candidates must meet all state certification (Chapter 49 and Act 48) and federally highly qualified (NCLB) requirements for the duties assigned. Experience working with students with disabilities and/or as a special education supervisor is preferred.  Job description is available upon request.  This is a non-bargaining unit position.

    Social Worker  –  Full-time position location will be IU-wide, available start of 2017-18 school year.  Position requires Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).  Physical requirements or limitation include but are not limited to assisting using CPI techniques during a crisis.  The individual must possess the ability to: 1.) Plan and implement strategies to assist students in crisis, 2.) Conduct individuals and group counseling sessions for students with special needs & 3.) Develop positive relationship with students, families, schools and agencies. Individual must have proven successful experience in the above areas.  Position also requires walking, standing, stooping, lifting approximately 20 pounds, with occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.  This is a bargaining unit position.

    Special Education Teachers – Permanent positions (185 days) located in IU-wide classes within IU 6 region, working with students in all educational  levels in special educations, available start of 2017-18 school year.  Positions require Bachelor's or Master's degree in special education; PA Instructional I or II Special Education Teaching Certificate and must meet all state certification and federal requirements for the position assigned.  Positions also requires walking, standing, stooping, lifting approximately 20 pounds, with occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.    Positions may require ABA or CLM training.  Desire CPR, CPI and experience working with emotional support students and special needs students.  These are bargaining unit positions.

    Educational Assistants – Full-Time permanent positions (184 days) located in IU-wide classes working in elementary or secondary programs for students with disabilities, available start of 2017-18 school year.  Positions require evidence of Highly Qualified status.  Positions may require ABA or CLM training.  Desire CPR and previous work with special needs school students.  These are bargaining unit positions.

    Teacher of the Hearing Impaired – Temporary position, working with a school age student in a high/elementary school/ preschool class.  Position requires Bachelors or Master's degree and a PA Hearing Impairment, PA Instructional I or II Special Education Teaching Certificate and must meet all state certification (Chapter 49 and Act 48) and federal highly qualified (NCLB) requirements for the position assigned.  Desire extensive coursework under a certified Auditory-Verbal Specialist (AV-Cert), understanding of assessment procedure of phoneme perception, knowledge of the process to analyze the discrepancies using the formant/frequency bands of consonants and vowels, ability to communicate this information to the pediatric audiologist to inform the MAPping of the speech processors, and an understanding of the Auditory Learning Guide and its application to the progress of auditory skills at developmentally appropriate levels.  American Sign Language experience is desired but not required.  Position also requires walking, standing, stooping, lifting approximately 20 pounds, with occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.  This is a bargaining unit position.
