The Guest Teacher program is a service offered to the school districts in the RIU6 territory including Clarion, Forest, Jefferson and Venango counties. The purpose of the program is to provide quality substitute teacher training to individuals with limited or no teaching experience.
Guest Teachers must attend a training session and participate in an interview process. Throughout the training session, the trainees learn about the different aspects of education. Trainers for the program include RIU6 administrators, educational consultants and special education professionals.
Each Guest Teacher exits the program with the basic understanding to be a substitute teacher on a day-to-day basis and an emergency permit is issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) which permits the Guest Teacher to substitute teach in any participaing school district.
Applications are accepted year-round. Questions can be addressed to the IU by calling Valerie Boyles.
